AMD Unveils Next Generation Processors at Computex 2024

AMD recently announced the launch of its latest processors at Computex 2024, aiming to cater to the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The company introduced four new Ryzen 9000 series chipsets designed for gamers and heavier workloads. These CPUs are based on AMD’s cutting-edge Zen 5 architecture and are equipped with integrated GPUs and Neural Processing Units (NPUs). According to AMD, the Ryzen 9000 series processors offer a 16% performance improvement compared to their predecessors.

In addition to the Ryzen 9000 series, AMD also introduced two new Ryzen AI 300 series chipsets specifically designed to power AI-enabled PCs. The Ryzen AI 300 series includes the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the Ryzen AI 9 365 CPUs. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chipset boasts 12 high-performance Zen 5 cores with 24 threads and a maximum clock speed of 5.1GHz. It features Radeon 890M graphics and a 36MB cache. On the other hand, the Ryzen AI 9 365 chipset offers 10-core high-performance Zen 5 cores with 12 threads and a maximum clock speed of 5.0GHz. It comes with Radeon 880M graphics and a 34MB cache.

Apart from the Zen 5 architecture used in the CPUs, AMD also incorporated the XDNA2 architecture to develop the NPUs powering the AI experiences for desktop users. Both the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Ryzen AI 9 365 chipsets feature NPUs capable of 50 Tera operations per second (TOPS). These advanced chipsets are set to hit the market in July and will be featured in select Copilot+ PCs showcased at Microsoft’s Surface event, starting with models like the Asus Vivobook S 15 and HP OmniBook.

During the event, AMD also introduced the Ryzen 9000 series chipsets, including the Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X CPUs. Among them, the Ryzen 9 9950X stands out as the most powerful processor in the lineup, featuring 16 high-performance Zen 5 cores, 32 threads, and 80MB of L2+L3 cache. With a base clock speed of 4.3GHz and a maximum clock speed of 5.7GHz, the Ryzen 9 9950X is tailored for gamers seeking high frame rates, smooth gameplay, and improved performance across a variety of AAA and esports titles.

AMD promises that the Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors will deliver faster 3D rendering, enhanced animation design, and improved product visualization capabilities. These new chipsets are expected to hit the market in July alongside the Ryzen AI 300 series, offering a significant performance boost for users seeking cutting-edge computing experiences. However, AMD has yet to disclose pricing details for any of the newly unveiled chipsets.

AMD’s latest processor lineup marks a significant leap forward in performance and AI capabilities, catering to the evolving needs of gamers, content creators, and professionals alike.
