The film grossed $295M worldwide in its opening weekend, with midweek numbers reaching $380M by Tuesday. Chambers commended the collective effort that contributed to the film’s success, highlighting the dedication of markets, exhibitors, and partners around the world.
Highlights from the Presentation
The CineEurope presentation also featured previews of highly anticipated films such as Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, Captain America: Brave New World, and Thunderbolts, along with 20th Century’s Alien: Romulus and Disney Animation’s Moana 2. Lee Jury, Head of Marketing for EMEA, hyped up Deadpool & Wolverine as a “kick-ass feel-good movie,” with star Ryan Reynolds making a cheeky appearance in a video introducing exclusive footage.
Captain America: Brave New World, a return to the political thriller genre for Marvel, showcased new footage starring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford, set for a February 2025 release. Thunderbolts, focusing on a group of villainous misfits from the MCU seeking redemption, teased a behind-the-scenes look after wrapping production. Director Fede Alvarez introduced an extended scene from Alien: Romulus, sharing his journey of reviving the iconic sci-fi franchise with a fresh perspective.
