Recently, President Joe Biden spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and announced a new military aid package worth $125 million ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day. This move signifies Washington’s unwavering support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia. The aid package includes crucial items such as air-defense missiles, counter-drone equipment, anti-armor missiles, and ammunition, aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
President Zelenskyy emphasized the critical need for the weapons provided in the aid package, especially the air defense systems for protecting cities, communities, and critical infrastructure in Ukraine. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2014, the country has been facing constant threats to its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Following Crimea’s annexation by Russia in 2014 and the subsequent invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the United States has been at the forefront of supporting Ukraine.
