Despite battling stage 4 cancer for a decade, Brophy continued to work and inspire others with his dedication to his craft. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Brophy’s family later moved to the San Fernando Valley, where he spent his formative years before relocating to Del Mar, California for high school. He went on to graduate from the prestigious California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts), setting the stage for his successful career in the entertainment industry.

One of Brophy’s most notable roles was playing the title character in the television series Lucan, which aired from 1977 to 1978. This role showcased Brophy’s acting range and cemented his status as a talented performer in Hollywood. He also appeared in films such as The Long Riders (1980) and the horror classic Hell Night (1981), further demonstrating his ability to captivate audiences on both the big and small screens. In addition to his major roles, Brophy had numerous guest appearances in popular television series like The Love Boat, M*A*S*H, Growing Pains, The Hardy Boys Mysteries, and Hart to Hart, leaving a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.

Brophy’s passing left behind a legacy of incredible work and a loving family. He is survived by his wife, Amy Prettyman Brophy, his mother Carol, brother John (Wendy), his children Kelly, Michael (Lindsey), Megan, Ryan, and grandchildren Jarrah and Saylor. His Celebration of Life is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 29, at St. Cyril’s Church in Encino, California, where friends, family, and fans will come together to honor his memory and contributions to the world of entertainment. Brophy’s impact on the industry will be remembered for years to come, showcasing his talent and dedication to his craft.
