Disney Entertainment Television truly went above and beyond at San Diego Comic-Con this year, showcasing a wide range of activations that captivated con-goers. ABC’s Abbott Elementary brought A.V.A. Fest to San Diego, offering attendees an entire carnival experience complete with games and goodies. The carnival featured a swing carousel, performances by the Philadelphia Eagles drumline, a giant slide, a high striker, water guns, and even an arts and craft section.
Another standout activation was Hulu’s Animayhem, which returned for another year to showcase popular series like Family Guy, American Dad, Bob’s Burgers, Grimsburg, and The Simpsons. Attendees were treated to doughnuts and coffee courtesy of Bart Simpson himself. Inside the activation, guests had the chance to have their stress levels “detected” by a high-tech machine from Solar Opposites, receiving a Goobler depending on their mood.
Heading back towards the convention center, con-goers could visit the FX area, where they could enjoy activities inspired by hits like The Bear and American Horror Story. Aspiring chefs had the opportunity to take a photo inside The Bear, Carmy and Sydney’s upscale Chicago restaurant, which was beautifully recreated in Southern California for the event. American Horror Story also brought the scares with the Hellevator, showcasing 12 iconic moments from the series and teasing Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series Grotesquerie.
Fans of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and What We Do in the Shadows were not left out, as they could snap photos outside of Paddy’s Pub or visit the vampire’s Staten Island mansion. Additionally, custom sunshades were available to help attendees stay cool while exploring all the exciting activations. Overall, Disney Entertainment Television created an immersive and interactive experience for Comic-Con attendees to enjoy throughout the weekend.
