Following the riots in Cardiff last year, a total of 31 people have been charged for their involvement in the violent disorder. Out of the 31 individuals, 27 have been charged with the offence of riot, while four others have been charged with causing or threatening to cause criminal damage. The riots erupted in the Ely area of Cardiff following the tragic deaths of teenagers Kyrees Sullivan and Harvey Evans in a crash involving an electric bike.
The incident took place on Snowden Road around 6pm on May 22. South Wales Police faced scrutiny after footage surfaced on social media showing a police vehicle seemingly following two boys on a bike moments before the fatal crash. In the aftermath of the collision, chaos ensued as fireworks and other projectiles were hurled at police officers, and at least two vehicles were set on fire. As a result, 11 injured officers were rushed to the hospital, with four others receiving treatment at the scene.

The defendants involved in the riots span an age range from 15 to 53 years old.
