Upon the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris, users were excited to get their hands on this innovative foldable phone. However, some users have now reported an issue with the paint peeling off the body of the device. Reddit users have shared images showing small sections of paint coming off near the power button and the top left corner of the rear panel. This has raised concerns about the build quality and durability of the device.
Samsung has responded to these reports by stating that the paint peeling issue might be caused by the use of incompatible third-party products with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. The company specifically points to high-speed third-party chargers that are not properly grounded as potential culprits. Samsung explains that the current leakage from these chargers can adversely affect the anodisation of the phone, leading to the delamination of the paint. Anodisation is a process that gives metal a decorative, durable, and corrosion-resistant finish.
In addition to third-party chargers, Samsung also warns against using electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) massagers while using the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, as it can also cause the paint to peel off. The company recommends that users place the phone away from their body when using these EMS products. However, Samsung notes that if a third-party charger is from a reputable company, of high quality, and adheres to the Qi standard, it should be safe to use with any Samsung handset. For optimal performance, Samsung advises users to use an authentic Samsung charger designed specifically for their device.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 starts at Rs. 1,64,999 in India for the 12GB + 256GB option. The higher storage variants of 12GB + 512GB and 12GB + 1TB are priced at Rs. 1,76,999 and Rs. 2,00,999, respectively. The device is offered in three color options – Navy, Pink, and Silver Shadow, and is available for purchase through the official Samsung website, online retailers, and offline stores. It is worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not come with a charger included in the box, with the 25W adaptor priced at Rs. 1,699 and the USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable listed at Rs. 599 on the Samsung India website.
While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 offers a unique and cutting-edge foldable design, users should be cautious when using third-party accessories with the device. The reports of paint peeling off highlight the importance of following Samsung’s recommendations for using compatible and high-quality accessories to ensure the longevity and quality of the device.
