Notably missing from the convention were former First Lady Melania Trump and Trump’s daughter Ivanka, both of whom have been noticeably absent from the campaign trail during this election cycle. Their absence raises questions about their level of involvement in Trump’s political endeavors moving forward.
The convention comes just two days after the attempted assassination of Trump at a rally, where one person was killed and two others were critically injured. The alleged gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot dead shortly after opening fire. Despite the security concerns raised by this incident, the RNC schedule is expected to proceed as planned, albeit with heightened emotional energy.

The convention’s first day featured a lineup of speakers including Marjorie Taylor Greene, rapper Amber Rose, David Sacks, Tim Scott, and Kristi Noem, among others. Notably, Teamsters Union President Sean O’Brien delivered a speech, acknowledging the controversy surrounding his presence at a Republican event. Over 80 of Trump’s close allies, donors, and lawmakers are expected to take the stage throughout the week, with the City of Milwaukee anticipating roughly 50,000 attendees.
