As a native New Yorker himself, De Niro made it clear that he and other New Yorkers used to merely tolerate Trump when he was just another real estate hustler masquerading as a big shot.
Known for his roles in movies like “Taxi Driver” and “The Godfather Part II,” De Niro painted a grim picture of Trump as a threat to the United States. He accused Trump of inciting violence and chaos during the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, where a mob of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building. De Niro’s scathing remarks didn’t stop there. He questioned Trump’s courage, asking whether the former president ever threw a punch himself or took one.
Following De Niro’s fiery speech, Trump’s supporters quickly seized the opportunity to discredit the Biden campaign. Trump’s spokesperson, Jason Miller, went as far as to call De Niro a “washed-up actor” used by Biden in an attempt to boost his chances in the upcoming presidential election.
