On his final throw at the University of Washington pro day, Michael Penix Jr. showcased his arm talent with a deep ball that traveled an impressive 75 yards in the air. However, what stood out even more was his performance at the start of the workout when he posted a sub-4.6-second time in the 40-yard dash. While some scouts clocked him at 4.56 to 4.59 seconds, Penix believes he is faster, stating, “I’m a 4.4 guy, in my opinion.” His performance at the pro day was crucial in dispelling any doubts about his speed and athleticism.

In addition to the impressive 40-yard dash time, Penix also excelled in other drills. He posted a 36.5-inch vertical jump and a broad jump of 10 feet, 5 inches, both of which were better than any other quarterback at the scouting combine. These results further solidified his position as a top quarterback prospect in the upcoming draft, with many projections placing him within the first two rounds.

Throughout the pro day, Penix remained focused on showcasing his abilities and proving his worth. Despite facing questions about his athleticism, he maintained his composure, stating, “I just always want to prove myself right. The competitor in me, I’m going to show it, I’m going to showcase it, I’m going to write my own narrative.” Penix’s determination and drive to succeed were evident in his performance on the field.

Following his impressive showing at the University of Washington pro day, Penix garnered interest from several NFL teams. He was seen engaging in conversations with New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen. Moreover, Penix revealed that he has pre-draft visits scheduled with teams such as the Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos, and Pittsburgh Steelers, signaling widespread interest in his abilities.
